Pod® is the brainchild of two friends, Feven and Rhiannon, who met at the Ignite Bermuda Entrepreneurial accelerator program.
After 17 years in education and running her birth business on the side, Feven had recently moved to full time birth work and joined the Ignite program to start Bermuda’s first Human Milk Bank and grow her birth business, Harmony Birth Bermuda. In her role as a birth and lactation professional Feven is continuously tuned into the unique needs of her clients by providing emotional, practical, educational support and advocacy so they can confidently transition into their parenting roles. As an advocate for preventative and proactive women’s health, Feven is always looking to source the most up to date resources and products to support her clients and often found herself dreaming of one day creating a one-stop shop of women’s health and family lifestyle products and resources.
Meanwhile, after having her first baby in 2021 during the middle of the pandemic, Rhiannon founded and ran Nom Noms, a boutique toddler meal prep service. Through her connections with a community of parents, and her personal experience, she became acutely aware of the gaps in products and services geared to women’s health and families. In fact, she increasingly found herself resorting to online shopping to access quality products, be it to help her with lactation or while trying to optimise her postpartum recovery. She too wanted to create something she wished was there when she was in the trenches of raising her young family. By day, Rhiannon is a Marketing Manager at a local firm.
In their respective experiences, they each built the foundations required to establish the values and principles behind the company that has now become Pod®, which was born after Feven helped bring Rhiannon and her husband’s second baby into the world as their doula in 2023.
Rather than launching with a big team, outside investors, or a deep marketing budget, we opted to keep things simple.
