Pilates
In November 2018 Akilah underwent major trauma in the form of open abdominal surgery. She was sworn off of nearly all physical activity for eight weeks as part of the healing process. After the eight-week recovery period, I wanted to “be strong again” and so I enquired about Pilates. With Pilates, she experienced rapid transformation. Not just in her body, but also in her mind. Building deep core strength transformed the way she saw herself in the world. She felt empowered.

Mental wellbeing
Founder of Cocoon Work, Camille Creary is a social worker and mental health counselor who has worked with many different types of people. Through her experiences, she has seen that there is a need for therapeutic spaces for women of color. Using a holistic approach, mixed with traditional therapeutic techniques, her goal is to build self-confidence and help women navigate their fears and prioritize becoming the most authentic version of themselves. Understanding that there is a major cost barrier to therapy, she has also developed a self-guided six-module workbook that helps women start their introspective journey at their own pace, and at a one-time cost. Camille’s overall mission is to build up healing and community among women of color who are looking to grow into their most authentic selves while prioritizing inner peace and happiness.
Having recently entered the elite club of motherhood, Camille additionally offers a tailored experience for both expecting, and postpartum mothers who have started to feel like they have become a stranger to themselves while embracing their role as a parent.

Grounded in her integrative approach to mental health. Her experience with infertility, a high-risk twin pregnancy, over 100 days on bedrest and the NICU ignited her interest in supporting women before, during and after pregnancy.
